Maritime Tribes Announces New Licensing Agreement with Imray

Posted by Trip Wolfskehl on

Maritime Tribes is proud to announce a new licensing agreement with Imray, the legendary nautical chart publisher trusted by sailors around the world for generations. Known especially for their detailed and beautifully rendered charts of the Caribbean, Europe, and far beyond, Imray charts have long been a gold standard for serious navigation and coastal exploration.

For us, this partnership is more than a business milestone — it’s personal.

A Full-Circle Sailing Story

When I first sailed in the Caribbean in my early twenties, Imray was the only set of charts we needed. From St. Thomas all the way down to Grenada, Imray charts guided us safely through island passages, anchorages, and reefs with remarkable clarity and confidence.

Back then, there were no apps, no tablets, no glowing screens in the cockpit. Just paper charts spread out below deck — precise, dependable, and beautifully drawn. Imray covered every island in extraordinary detail, and their cartography had a quiet elegance that made you want to linger over each chart long after the sails were down.

Those charts didn’t just tell us where we were. They taught us how to conduct a proper maritime adventure!

Carrying the Charts Forward

Today, Maritime Tribes is honored to work with Imray to bring that same spirit of exploration into a new generation of maritime adventurers. Through this licensing partnership, we are able to transform Imray’s trusted charts into thoughtfully designed products that celebrate place, movement, and memory — pieces meant to be lived with, worn, and gifted.

Our goal has always been to help people carry their favorite places with them, whether that’s a harbor they know by heart or a coastline they’re still dreaming about. Partnering with Imray allows us to do that with charts that have guided sailors safely for decades.

Tradition, Reimagined

Imray’s charts represent something we deeply value: craftsmanship, accuracy, and respect for the sea. By reimagining these charts through the Maritime Tribes lens, we hope to honor that tradition while extending its reach — from the chart table to everyday life.

This partnership feels like a natural alignment of values, history, and purpose. We’re grateful to the Imray team for their trust and collaboration, and we’re excited to share what’s ahead.

The sea connects generations. These charts help tell that story.
